FAQs

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

About Ride for Heart

  • What difference will I make by joining the Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart?

Every five minutes, someone in Canada dies from heart disease, stroke or vascular cognitive impairment.  These are not just statistics—they represent loved ones, families, and futures cut short.

By joining the Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart, you become part of a powerful movement to change that. Whether you ride, walk or run, every kilometre you complete and every dollar you raise fuels life-saving research, advocacy and health promotion efforts. Together, we help prevent disease, save lives and support recovery. Register now!

  • When can I do my ride, walk or run?

Get moving anytime during the month of June to beat heart disease and stroke. Join us from anywhere in Canada to make every beat count.  Participation is flexible, so if June is busy, you can flex and set your own 4-weeks that work best for you.

  • Is there a registration fee to participate in the Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart?

    No registration fee—just heart.

We encourage all participants to fundraise a suggested minimum of $150 to support critical research, advocacy and health promotion. Every dollar brings us closer to beating heart disease and stroke.

Thank you for moving with purpose and fundraising with heart.

  • Can I support Ride for Heart without participating? How can I donate?

Absolutely. Every donation makes a difference.

Heart disease and stroke are the second leading cause of death in Canada. Your support helps fund life-saving research, advocacy and health promotion to beat these conditions.

    To donate, you can:

Thank you for helping save lives, even if you are cheering from the sidelines.

  • Is there a minimum distance I need to complete?

No minimum required—just move in a way that works for you.

Choose any distance or activity that suits your goals. For an extra boost, join our Kilometre Challenge and track your progress throughout the event.

  • What other activities can I do besides riding, walking or running?

You can choose to participate how you want to participate, with the activity, the distance and/or time of your choice during the month of June. Whether it’s riding a bike, walking or participating in something else active, physical activity reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke.

  • Are children able to participate?

Children of all ages can participate and should complete their ride, walk or run activity under the supervision of their parents or guardian.

  • I want to share my photos for the Ride for Heart, where should I do this?

We encourage you to share your photos, accomplishments and more on social media. It is a great way to share in the experience together as a community of supporters.  Make sure you use the hashtag #HeartAndStrokeRideAsOne.

And if you’re part of our Corporate Challenge or a VIP, you can also use our secondary hashtags which are #RideCorporateChallenge or #RideVIP.

Registration Information

  • How do I register for the Ride for Heart?

You can register for the Ride for Heart through our online registration. Join as an individual, team of friends and family, start a corporate team or take on the challenge of being a VIP participant.

If you have participated with us since 2023, you can sign-up using your existing username and password.  If you participated in 2022 or before, you will need to create a new username and password.

  • How do I register—individually or with others?

You can register as an individual or as part of a team.

Teams are defined as two or more people who will be raising funds and participating together.

If you are joining with coworkers, consider the Corporate Health & Wellness Challenge for a fun and impactful way to get involved.

  • Do I need to register each person separately if I am participating with someone else?

Each person simply has to complete the online registration form and sign an event waiver. If a participant is less than 18 years old, a parent (or custodian/guardian) will have to sign the waiver on the child's behalf.

Thank you so much for encouraging others to join you.

  • Can I change my team name after registering?

The team captain can update the team name anytime through their Participant Centre. This includes Corporate Challenge teams.

  • How do I make an offline donation?

We strongly encourage you to ask your supporters to donate online through your personal fundraising page. If that isn’t possible, you can still collect offline donations by filling out our offline donation form and then mailing it to Heart & Stroke. Please do not send cash in the mail. Tip: Check to see if your company offers a match program to increase your fundraising!

  • How will you use the money that I raise?

  • Does each member of a Team need to raise $150? Or is it a combined total?

We challenge each adult on your team to raise $150.

Here are some quick tips to set you on the path to fundraising success:

  • If there is a Ride for Heart corporate match, will the matched funds be added to my fundraising thermometer?

Unfortunately, no. We can only count donations made by yourself or your donors to your fundraising page. The match amount facilitated by any contributing corporate partner cannot be added to your fundraising total. However, the total match amount allocated by the partner (as determined by the corporate partner) will be provided in total to Heart & Stroke. Rest assured, your impact is being felt!
