Join a Heart & Stroke social fundraising challenge and help drive progress in the fight against heart disease and stroke. No matter which challenge you choose, your efforts will help us drive life-saving medical breakthroughs, advocate for better health, and bring together the brightest minds to improve diagnosis, care and support. 

What is a Social Fundraising Challenge?

Every five minutes, someone in Canada dies from heart disease, stroke or vascular cognitive impairment. Anyone can join one of our digital activity challenges and raise much-needed funds for Heart & Stroke, while having fun! You can make each challenge your own by choosing one or a variety of activities and by completing your kilometres wherever and whenever works best for you or your team – complete your challenge at your own comfort level. Everyone is encouraged to fundraise, and there is no fee to join!

Walk for Heart this August!


Step into August with our Walk for Heart challenge. Set your goal to 50 KM and complete it in a way that works for you — whether that’s daily walks around your neighbourhood, time on local trails, or moments outdoors that feel meaningful to you.


Take it at your own pace, stay connected with our online community, and share your journey along the way.

Ready to go the distance? Join our September 90km Walk Challenge and take on your biggest walking goal yet. Whether you're fitting in short walks throughout the week, exploring local trails on the weekend, or adding extra steps to your daily routine, every kilometre brings you closer to your goal.


Take it at your own pace, track your progress, and stay connected with a supportive community of walkers from across the country. Share your milestones, celebrate your successes, and encourage others along the way.

  • Who can join a Social Fundraising Challenge?

    Absolutely anyone can get in on the fun! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, everyone’s invited to jump in and make this challenge their own. 


    Get active, cheer each other on, and don’t forget to share your incredible progress with us—we can’t wait to celebrate every step of your journey together! So, gather your friends, set your goals, and let’s make a difference while having a blast! 


  • Do I have to fundraise to take part in the challenge?

    Yes, this event is an online fundraising challenge for Heart & Stroke. Every dollar helps fund life-saving research and support for people affected by heart disease, stroke and vascular cognitive impairment. 

     

    Together, we can beat heart disease and stroke! 


  • How will you use the money that I raise?

    When you donate to Heart & Stroke, you are helping drive our mission to prevent heart disease and stroke, save lives and enhance recovery. Money raised through this challenge will support our research, advocacy and health promotion efforts. We truly appreciate all of your support! 

  • Do I have to complete this all in one day?

    Our challenges are designed to occur over the course of a month. Refer to your chosen challenge to determine the timeframe for your activity.

  • Where do I do this challenge?

    Get moving to beat heart disease and stroke—wherever you are in Canada! Whether you're jogging through your neighbourhood or hiking your favourite trail, you can join the fun your own way. 


    Participation is flexible and totally up to you, so pick your spot, choose your activity, and make every beat count while helping to beat heart disease and stroke! 

  • Will my donors receive a tax receipt for my donations

    Absolutely! When you make an online donation, you’ll receive a tax receipt automatically by email—it’s that easy. This way, you and your donors can feel great about supporting a good cause and enjoy the added benefit at tax time. 


    If your tax receipt isn’t in your inbox, don’t worry! Just reach out to us at fundraising.challenges@heartandstroke.ca, and our team will be happy to help you out.

  • Can I donate on someone elses behalf?

    Absolutely!  If a friend or family member hands you a cash donation, you can easily make an online donation on their behalf. Just enter the donor’s name, email, and address, along with your own credit card details (number, expiry, and CVC) on the donation form. That way, your generous supporter will get a tax receipt straight to their inbox, while you take care of the payment. 


    It’s a simple, heartfelt way to share the impact and keep everyone connected to Heart & Stroke!
